Happy Trails

After casually perusing various websites and carelessly falling in love with a 1952 Yellowstone trailer on eBay, I found this website.

I LOVE these pictures. I love vintage trailers, I love pickup trucks, I love Christmas, but I don't like this whole deer situation. (Ticks)

Papa John

Before John was "Nick's dad" he was a little boy from Providence Rhode Island. His mother had flaming red hair. He loved to sing and dance. He joined the seminary as a young man, until he thought himself better suited to be on Broadway.

So John Scoullar went to NYC and was on Broadway. (That's the short version.) He met tons of interesting people that would shape his life forever, such as the people pictured below: Rick, his writing partner and Linda, Nick's mom.

In 1981 Nick was born. (That's my favorite part!) John and Linda were great parents, they playfully indulged Nick's precocious demeanor and marveled at his ability to converse with adults. They gave him an almost supernatural gift for understanding his emotions as well as others around him. (That's what you get when your parents are in the theatre business.)

In 2003 John mourned the loss of Linda, his former wife and best friend.

Between the time Nick and I were engaged to when we got married, John was diagnosed with skin cancer, my father with prostate cancer and my birth mother with breast and colon cancer. We weren't certain what percentage of the above mentioned could be in attendance at our wedding. But they were all there.

At the wedding John was vibrant and proud. He radiated happiness and just cried through the whole event.

The past couple of years John started a baking business and worked on his one woman show "Hello Dears". Often the baking business and the show were one and the same.

In October the New Victory Theatre will be opening their season with John and Rick's theatrical version of "The Little Prince". We will be there, along with Brad, who is the other half of "Dad and Brad".

2 weeks ago John passed away. He was loved wherever he went. He was an observant, colorful, charming man who made my husband and for all of those reasons I love him and will miss him very much.
