These Colors Don't Run

On the North side of our future country house, now a beautiful example of a cinder block wall, (*please see 5th photo down on previous blog titled Which Is Why We Have 4 Driveways!) I was considering painting a huge American Flag.

If I were to do this, IF- I would paint it to look like it's been there for decades! I would want it to have the faded rustic red white and blues of a hundred storms. And in doing so we'd not only we be adding to the community by creating a sort of FOLK art (my tongue is slightly to the cheek), but we'd also be keeping the "riff raff" at bay, as the riff raff up there have a certain stern respect for the colors that "DO NOT RUN".

Hasn't anyone every thought it funny that "These colors don't run" meaning the heroic hues of our flag, representing a nation of people who are anything but cowards, is a LAUNDRY reference?!

Uh-oh, that picture makes me want to do a post about LAUNDRY ROOMS.

But then I thought, what if it wasn't the flag, what if it were an old billboard or perhaps a recreated advertisement painted on.

Who knows... most likely we'll just side the building in something we acquire in mass amounts.

Hey, what better way to celebrate Memorial day then with talk of flags and advertisements!
